Caitiff and Thin Bloods and YOU
So, just a reminder:
Caitiff are Suspect- they have that Flaw. They are distrusted and their place in Kindred society is just one step above Thin Blood. This makes them a thing of derision and suspiciousness. You do not know WHY but you DO know that.
They need to be treated as such.
Thin Bloods on the other hand, are Shunned - they have that Flaw. You can speak to them but you should never feel bad for them, say you pity them, etc etc. They are dangerous creatures who aren’t “real” Vampires. Many are branded - as a warning to people to not create them and to tell people they exist and to watch for them. But many, MANY are just outright killed.
Trust me, if given half a chance they go one of two ways- they diablerize and become a “real” Vampire or there are rumors some choose to walk in the day and become mortal again. Neither prospect is good. Think on it.
Both of these need to be played and played consistently.
Bump and reminder. In Guide To The Anarchs the states that the Caitiff and Thinbloods are -marginally- treated better than the Camarilla. So instead of killing them on site or branding them and using them as teaching moment, they are seen as a tool to be used by the Unbound to try to get a leg up on the Camarilla. They are -not- treated as Panders and are accepted. That was and still is a -strictly- Sabbat action. This is -not- a Sabbat game.
When we were getting ready to launch V5 we debated long and hard about allowing these two “clans” to be played by players. If these guidelines cannot be followed then they will be removed from play and any new ones will be strictly for NPC’s.
Caitiff and Thinblood players, you must also help in policing this line of play. You were all told at the start of V5 that this will be hard mode, but you get a lot of powerful tools (seriously, thinblood alchemy is the shit! And potential day walking? Fuck yeah! For Caitiff, a fluid discipline set? Holy shit no one knows wtf you can do until it’s too late!!) that the game designers gave these “clans” in order to bring balance. So please remind others if needed in OOC brackets ((please respect that I am playing a Caitiff/Thinblood and play to the game (White Wolf, not just Sanguinus) setting correctly)) if you feel you are not being reacted to accordingly.
The above is largely about treating Caitiff and Thinbloods in public. They are NOT accepted, they are not as equal as everyone else.
However, that doesn’t mean you have to constantly relegate them to the peanut gallery for everything. It is not only allowed but encouraged by the setting as written to hit Caitiff and Thinbloods up for work in private and even form secret alliances in private.
Being publically known to be good buds with the local Thinblob or Orphan is bad, m’kay?
